When I was a kid I would get in trouble for staring at things and people for too long, forever a quiet observer and studier of human and animal behaviors… so it came as no surprise that the first time I held a camera I felt complete. It was finally OK to stare- admire or study if I had a tool to capture it. I have been obsessed with finding the beauty in all things since I can remember, and I am so grateful to have the honor to do this professionally. Whether it’s a wedding, or running out the door in my pajamas to photograph a bird of prey I saw out my window, I put the same amount of passion and energy into making sure I do my subjects justice. I want to capture real moments, and reveal their beauty in whatever form they may take.
My approach to wedding photography is partially documentary/journalistic, and partially editorial. No couple is the same, no wedding is the same, and I come to each wedding with a unique perspective and objective based on the individual needs and wants of the clients. I love being collaborative and helping couples plan their day but always want to make sure I’m not interfering with the natural flow of things… I want to capture real emotions and candidness which can only happen when you aren’t orchestrating each and every photo! So ideally, we do most of the communicating and planning ahead of time so that the day of I can just blend into the background and quietly capture every special moment.
